Cooking Club

Cooking club is every Thursday from 3.15-4.15pm.  It is run by Miss Gelsthorpe and Mrs Gee with children from Years 1-6. 

The recipes for the things we have cooked will be added to our page so you can make them at home!

Cheese straws

100g self raising flour

Pinch of salt

Pinch of mustard powder

50g margarine

75g mature cheddar (grated)

1 medium egg beaten


Makes 50


1.  Heat the oven to 180 degrees and grease baking tray.

2. Mix together the flour, salt and mustard.  Rub in the margarine.

3.  Stir in the cheese and add sufficient egg to make a stiff dough.

4.  Roll out very thinly and cut into strips.  Place on baking tray.

5.  Bake for 10-15 minutes. 



Syrup Flapjacks

100g margarine

1 tablespoon golden syrup

100g sugar

50g oats

50g self raising flour

75g crushed cornflakes


1. Heat the oven to 190 degrees C.  Grease baking tray.

2.  Melt margarine and syrup.  Do not overheat.

3.  Mix in a bowl with sugar, oats, flour and cornflakes.

4.  Pour the margarine mixture onto the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.

5. Place on the tray and bake for 15-20 minutes until just firm.

6. Cut into fingers whilst still hot, leave to cool on the tray.


Rich biscuits (Makes 24)


225g self raising flour

100g caster sugar

100g butter/margarine

1/2 a lemon (grated, rind and juice)

1 medium egg, beaten


1. Heat the oven to 180 degrees C.  Grease two baking trays.

2. Mix flour and sugar and rub in the fat.

3. Add lemon rind and juice and add sufficient egg to make a stiff dough.

4. Roll out thinly and cut into 7.5cm rounds.  Place on the baking trays and bake for 15 minutes.




To make the base:

225g self raising flour

Pinch of salt

50g margarine


1. Heat oven to 220 degrees C and grease a baking tray.

2.  Mix flour and salt.  Rub in margarine.

3.  Add egg and milk.

4. Knead lightly on a floured surface, roll out to 1cm in thickness and cut into 6.5cm rounds.

5.  Place on prepared tray.



Tomato puree

Grated cheese


Add toppings of choice (pineapple, pepperoni, mushrooms, onion)


6. Spread over the tomato puree and add cheese.

7.  Add topping of choice.

8. Bake for 10-15 minutes.
